Storyboarding for Digital Media for marking DONE
Storyboarding is potentially the most important part of pre-production. The main purpose of creating a storyboard is to be able to visualize ideas for a scrip, whether it be for a film, video game, tv show et cetera. The storyboard includes the basics of the important scenes and allows the writer/writers to inject more ideas that could be carried onto the production stage. They are used in multiple productions, including film, television, documentary, music videos, animation and game design. All storyboards have their own pros and cons, depending on the preferences of who produced it. Some have more or less cells per page, depending on how much paper they want to carry or how clear they want each cell to be. Other may be hand drawn, whereas others produce them on photoshop or another digital program, and some may include more detail than others, depending on how precise the producer of the storyboard wants a specific scent to be, or if there is more flexibility for experimenting with that specific scene.
A film storyboard is commonly known as a shooting board. It is a sequence of drawings of multiple scenes in the film. It allows film directors and cinematographers to visualize the scenes and find any problems that could occur before filming. As well as this, the shooting board can also help to estimate the overall cost of the whole shoot and could provide an accurate estimate of how much it would all cost. They often include errors or some other form of instruction to show movement within the shoot. The storyboard usually provides a visual layout of each scene as they are to be seen through the camera lens. As well as a drawing of each scene, there could be some text explaining anything specific that needs to occur. The text could also be some dialogue from the scene.

These JAWS storyboards and very well hand drawn which makes what is to occur in each scene obvious. The first image shows that a close up should be used in order to make the two characters faces the focus of the shot, in order to show how terrified they are to the audience. As well, the characters know they should be acting scared and panic, with heavy breathing, screaming et cetera. The second image shows the shark emerging from the water, which shows two people in the boat with their arms in the air, emphasizing how scared they are. Following that is another close up, this time of the shark, showing all of its teeth, increasing the levels of fear in both the characters and audience.
In this gaming storyboard, there is a drawing of each level of the game, with the final frame being the goal. The storyboard makes it easy to see the goal of the game as the levels are in a chronological order. Gaming storyboards are generally only used for brainstorming ideas and getting something down on paper. This specific storyboard is very basic yet very effective. There is very little detail as it is a simple game, each of the boxes include characters and any other objects that are necessary in the scene. All of the detail will come in the software development of the game, instead of on the visuals. There is no variety of camera angles as this game only has a single angle angle. There is also no text or any information on the camera angle on the storyboard as it is obviously shown in the drawings. The same can be said for the sound of the game as it will probably be quite basic and will be in the software development.
